MARKET RECAP – SEPTEMBER 23, 2024

STOCK MARKET

Dow Jones ended at $42,124.65 (+0.15%)

S&P 500 ended at $5,718.57 (+0.28%)

Nasdaq Composite ended at $17,974.27 (+0.14%)

The stock market has started off the week on a positive note due to traders aiming to build on the gains seen last week following the Federal Reserve’s interest rate cut. The S&P 500, Nasdaq Composite, and Dow Jones Industrial Average all reported gains, with the S&P 500 reaching a fresh record close. Let’s remember that the market rallied after the Fed’s rate cut announcement, and investors are now monitoring economic data for any signs that could dampen hopes for a soft landing. Moreover, investors are placing an emphasis on changes in non-farm payrolls reports, which will be released on Friday morning, but there is uncertainty about whether a softening in labor markets is truly driving Fed policy. Thus, it is important to remark that if this assumption is proven to be misplaced, volatility in the market could change

CRYPTO MARKET

Bitcoin rose by 0.42% for the day, with a value of $63,263.63 as of 3:00 PM CST, as stated by Coin Metrics.
