MARKET RECAP – NOVEMBER 4, 2024

STOCK MARKET

Dow Jones ended at $41,794.60 (-0.61%)

S&P 500 ended at $5,712.69 (-0.28%)

Nasdaq Composite ended at $18,179.98 (-0.33%)

The stock market began the week with losses across all major indexes due to investors’ concerns surrounding the U.S. presidential election and the potential Federal Reserve rate cut. The uncertainty about the election outcome, with polls showing a close race between Trump and Harris, caused market volatility as investors tried to price in the potential impact of different election scenarios. Additionally, the rejection of a request to increase nuclear power at a plant in Pennsylvania and the upcoming Fed rate decision added to market unease. Thus, although the recent announcement that Nvidia would replace Intel in the Dow Jones Industrial Average helped stabilize the market temporarily, the Dow, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite all ended on the negative side.

CRYPTO MARKET

Bitcoin fell by 1.96% for the day, with a value of $67,416.94 as of 3:00 PM CST, as stated by Coin Metrics.
