MARKET RECAP – MARCH 8, 2024

STOCK MARKET

Dow Jones ended at $38,772.69 (-0.18%)

S&P 500 ended at $5,123.69 (-0.65%)

Nasdaq Composite ended at $16,085.11 (-1.16%)

The stock market ended the week with losses across all major indexes following the release of the latest job data, which caused an uncertainty sentiment among investors as it provided conflicting signals about the economy, with strong job growth but higher unemployment and lower wage growth. As a result, the Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased, closing out its worst week since October. In addition, despite reaching new all-time highs earlier in the week, both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also decreased, with the latter leading the overall downward trend as the tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped by 1%.

CRYPTO MARKET

Bitcoin rose by 2.01% for the day, with a value of $69.231.70 as of 3:00 PM CST, as stated by Coin Metrics.
