MARKET RECAP – APRIL 22, 2024

STOCK MARKET

Dow Jones ended at $38,239.98 (+0.67%)

S&P 500 ended at $5,010.60 (+0.87%)

Nasdaq Composite ended at $15,451.31 (+1.11%)

The stock market had a positive start to the week as all major indexes showed gains. This was largely attributed to a rebound in tech shares, a decrease in tensions in the Middle East following Iran’s statement about not escalating conflict with Israel, and anticipation for upcoming major earnings releases. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Composite all saw increases, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq breaking a six-day losing streak. In addition, lower gold and oil prices, as well as stability in the value of the USD, also contributed to the overall positive sentiment in global stock markets. Overall, these factors combined boosted investor confidence and drove the gains observed today.

CRYPTO MARKET

Bitcoin rose by 2.85% for the day, with a value of $66,544.00 as of 3:00 PM CST, as stated by Coin Metrics.
