MARKET RECAP – SEPTEMBER 8, 2023

STOCK MARKET

Dow Jones ended at $34,576.59 (+0.22%)

S&P 500 ended at $4,457.49 (+0.14%)

Nasdaq Composite ended at $13,761.53 (+0.09%)

The stock market ended the week on a positive note despite witnessing some negative performances throughout the last trading sessions. Energy stocks saw an increase as oil prices rose, contributing to a 1% gain in the S&P 500 sector. Major winners in this sector included Marathon Petroleum, Valero Energy, and Phillips 66. Moreover, technology stocks, such as Apple, Microsoft and Salesforce, which had recently struggled, managed to recover. Nevertheless, the recovery trend was not followed by all tech stocks as Nvidia, Tesla, and Block reported losses. Consequently, following these events, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite all increased slightly, with the Nasdaq remaining almost unchanged.

CRYPTO MARKET

Bitcoin rose by 0.04% with a value of $25,875.33 as of 3:00 PM CST, as stated by Coin Metrics.
